Asbestos Surveys


For your asbestos problems we can carry out an asbestos survey in accordance with Method for the Determination of Hazardous Substances (MDHS) 100.

The survey will provide information on any asbestos identified, its condition and how it should be managed. i.e. labelled, encapsulated or removed. All of which Amiante can assist you with.

The survey then forms part of your asbestos register in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 (CAR 2006). The register must be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the safe management of any asbestos identified during the survey. Amiante can assist you with this service as well.

Surveys for compliance with Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006

There are 3 types of asbestos survey:

Type 1 - asbestos survey - Location and assessment (presumptive)


Type 2 - asbestos survey - Standard sampling, identification and assessment (sampling)


Type 3 - asbestos survey - Full access sampling and identification (pre-demolition / major refurbishment)


An asbestos survey consists of three main elements:

  1. It must as far as reasonably practicable locate and record the location, extent and product type of any presumed or known asbestos containing materials.

  2. It must inspect and record information on the accessibility, condition and surface treatment of any presumed or known asbestos containing materials.

  3. It should determine and record the asbestos type, either by collecting representative samples of suspect materials for laboratory identification, or by making a presumption based on the product type and its appearance.
